3Will Daryl Ever Really Trust Dwight?

In the very beginning of the Season 7 finale, “The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life,” Daryl Dixon pulls his knife on Dwight in the jail cell. Surprisingly, even Tara wants him to go ahead and end Dwight right there.

While listening to him speak, Dwight gives Daryl every reason to kill him (reminding him of past deaths like Denise), but Daryl decides to spare Dwight and chooses to listen to him, at least for now.

Rick and Daryl both agree that if he’s lying, it’s already too late.

When the battle does break out, however, Daryl is truly in his element. When everyone starts firing, he commanders an automatic weapon and takes out several of the Heapsters and the Saviors.

Daryl looks like he’s meant to be on the battlefield. Negan, on the other hand, is in such shock that he’s mainly just commentating on what’s happening, saying things like “God d*mn Tiger!” and “That widow is alive, guns a blazing!”

It’s clear the Saviors aren’t ready for what’s coming.
