Trying To Keep Dead A Secret

The Walking Dead | Photo Credit AMC On The Walking Dead, the cast and crew do their best to keep nearly every plot twist and episode description a secret until the show hits the air on Sunday night. Despite these precautions, some things will inevitably leak.

One example actually came from AMC, when they previewed a photo that revealed Sasha was actually okay after her attack on the Sanctuary. In a way, they ruined their own cliffhanger from the previous episode.

The biggest leak, however, was Sonequa Martin-Green’s role on Star Trek: Discovery.

Guessing Who Would Be The Next To Go

After Glenn and Abraham died, it was pretty clear there were going to be more deaths in Season 7 of The Walking Dead. One major candidate was Rosita, but she somehow managed to live, despite getting Olivia killed and Eugene kidnapped.

In the end, Sasha ended up saving Rosita, by taking the sacrifice herself and locking Rosita outside the gate of the Sanctuary. Essentially, this sealed Sasha’s fate as the next to go, one way or another, on The Walking Dead.

Executive Scott Gimple was disappointed about the Star Trek leak.

“We were hoping to [keep her casting secretive], but it didn’t happen, which was kind of a drag,” said Scott Gimple. “It seems like they did try, it just got it. But that just put it on us to tell a great story. The episode is the most important thing.”

Spoilers are inevitable, so perhaps once the news leaked, the writers reworked some of the story to make it more appealing to fans. It was never formally announced that she would be leaving the show, just highly speculated.

In the end, Sasha’s death in the finale was iconic for the zombie-infested series, especially with all of the tributes and the Michael Cudlitz cameo.
