We all have our favorite characters from the many Disney films released over the years. One of the most fun games to play is to imagine what would happen if different characters from different films met. What would Cinderella think of Pocahontas? Would Simba try to eat Bambi? Well, this week fans got a chance to see one such crossover when Princess Anna from Frozen had a real-life chat with Dory from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory.
Dory Meets Princess Anna
Kristen Bell was a special co-host this week on Ellen Degeneres’ self-titled talk show, Ellen. While she was ultimately there to promote her new NBC sitcom The Good Place, Kristen can never escape the shadow of Frozen.
Ellen is well-known for providing the voice of Dory, her long stand-up career, her 1990s ABC sitcom, and her talk show. She originated the role in Disney/Pixar’s 2003 film, Finding Nemo. Ellen returned to the character earlier this year in Finding Dory.
Recognizing the unique occurrence of having both actresses together, Ellen decided to have the duo play out a live unscripted meeting between the two animated characters. Using cardboard cutouts, Ellen and Kristen revisited their famous counterparts and acted out a short scene for the audience.
Both actresses stuck to their respective character’s trademark quirks. Dory got hung up on the introductions since she kept forgetting that she’d already met Anna just seconds earlier. Meanwhile, Anna was just interested in building a snowman.
Of course, it would be quite interesting to see how a human woman and a blue tang fish could work together to build a snowman. Fortunately, Ellen called an end to the scene before they could solve that little predicament.
Kristen Bell is One Busy Actress
In addition to her new NBC sitcom, Bell recently appeared on The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe. She also had two comedy films out earlier this year. First was The Boss with Melissa McCarthy and then Bad Moms, co-starring Mila Kunis and Christina Applegate. Next year, she’ll appear in the big screen remake of the classic 1970s cop show, ChiPs. The new reboot was written, directed by, and stars her real-life husband, Dax Shepard.
Bell is also preparing to return to the role of Princess Anna in Disney’s Frozen 2. There’s no word on when she’ll begin recording, as the script is still being written. Bell will join returning cast members Idina Menzel as Queen Elsa and Josh Gad as the snowman Olaf. She briefly reprised the role in Frozen Fever. It was a short film which appeared in theaters last year in front of Disney’s live-action Cinderella remake.
Ellen Keeps a Busy Schedule Too
Next year, Ellen will return as executive producer for NBC’s Little Big Shots with host Steve Harvey. She’s also serving as an executive producer on the upcoming Netflix original series Green Eggs and Ham. The show is based on the famous children’s book by Dr. Seuss, of course. The animated series will premiere with 13 half-hour episodes sometime in 2018.
