Something old, something new. Maren Morris checked both those boxes with her almost “say yes to the dress.” Inspired by her mother’s wedding gown, this bride is putting a new twist on traditional.
“She was a badass.”
In an interview with People, Maren described the process of finding (in this case, creating) just the right dress, along with some other juicy wedding planning details.
Like herself, Maren wants her dress to be unique. As such, she enlisted a designer to make the dress. She said she was in the process of getting back sketches for it. And her inspiration is a bit of vintage fashion.
Her inspiration is her mother, Kellie. Her mom wore a short dress in her wedding in 1989, and it made an impact on her daughter.
“She was a badass and had this short wedding dress, so I sent it to this designer that I love,” she told People. “I was like, ‘If we can do a modern version of my mom’s wedding dress just dreaming something up really cool but still throwback with her vibe, I would love to make that happen.’ So I’m just waiting to get sketches back but I know it’ll be perfect.”
“Feel like a party.”
In addition to the dress, the “My Church” singer revealed to People that the rest of the wedding plans are coming together.
She described the decor as green, lush and “twinkly.” They don’t have the guest list nailed down, but they promise a good time to those lucky enough to receive an invitation.
“We just want it to feel like a party,” she said.
She went on to describe, “We don’t want it to feel stuffy or have this long 18-course dinner. We want it to be like us. There’s definitely going to be margaritas and some Motown music, and my dog will be there. It’s going to be a complete reflection of both of our styles and tastes, and I’m so excited to share it with everybody.”
Hurd proposed in July 2017; the wedding will take place in Spring 2018. No doubt that “everybody” is just as excited as Maren to share in the couple’s joy.
