Garth Brooks: This Album Is “the Most Garth Thing” since “Sevens”

Garth Brooks, the king of 90s country music, is definitely back.

Actually, he never really left.

Even though he notably became Chris Gaines back in the day, he wasn’t able to stay away from being himself. Everybody is in love with Garth. We all know that, right?

Surprisingly, Brooks announced the first single of his 11th album. “Baby, Let’s Lay Down And Dance” is the title of the track. The track will come out later this year. This upbeat song proves that Brooks still has the unmistakable energy and timelessness.

“‘Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance’ was just a fun title that Kent Blazy has had in his book of titles forever, always threatening to write it,” Brooks said. “So one day Kim, Kent and I sat down and wrote it. We got a little help from Steve Dorff. Then Victoria Shaw finished it. In the middle of this, Kim Williams passed away. I’ve got to tell you, I love love love this song, but probably my greatest joy is the fact that this is a Kim Williams song. Not only did it make this record, it’s the first single off this record.”

Brooks said this new album is “the most Garth thing” he’s recorded since 1997’s “Sevens.” And this new song specifically is one that he’s proud of.

“It just jumps out when you hear it,” Brooks told iHeartRadio. “It’s great way to introduce everybody to the new record and the new sound, which hopefully will fit in with the old sound, and it’ll all just be Garth.”

Brook and his team of songwriters — namely Victoria Shaw (“The River”), Kent Blazy (“If Tomorrow Never Comes”), Kim Williams (“Papa Loved Mama”) and Steve Dorff — made a song that will be a part of something big. Brooks and his song will be particularly involved with a pretty innovative campaign at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. In partnership with Frito-Lay, he’ll be launching the song along with a download code on a select number of Fritos corn chip bags.

November 11 will also be the date of a new release. It is part of a 10-disc box set called “The Ultimate Collection”. It is specifically available only at Target.

Brooks has been frequently touring since 2014 on his World Tour with wife and country star, Trisha Yearwood. Catch them on tour this fall and winter!
