The Big Bang Theory Season 10 brought many momentous moments to the cast of characters. There was Penny and Leonard’s first wedding, Sheldon and Amy’s cohabitation, and of course the birth of baby Wolowitz.

Here’s why fans will never see Halley Wolowitz’s face.

It’s All In The Spirit of Mrs. Wolowitz

Bernadette and Howard talked about baby Halley’s arrival for weeks. As fans, we dreamed of what Bernie and Howie would be like as parents, and we laughed as they went through the rollercoaster of expectant emotions. But, fans were upset when they realized we’re never going to see Halley Wolowitz’s face. The baby was born, and all we’ve gotten to see so far is a swaddle and a few baby accessories.

Apparently, Halley is now taking Mrs. Wolowitz’s place as the unseen character on TBBT. Showrunner Steve Molaro said, “She is a loving tribute to her grandmother — this is a nice way for us to keep [Mrs. Wolowitz] alive…It also means we don’t have to have a baby on the set, so it solved lots of problems.

A baby on set would apparently be a BIG problem, as Kaley Cuoco has said she REALLY doesn’t like working with babies. The star joked with Stephen Colbert that babies are “divas” with an impossible schedule. Yes, Kaley was speaking in jest- but you could tell she felt strongly about the topic.

Kaley said, ” I don’t like working with kids…I like kids, I just don’t want to be around them…you know babies are really tough to work with…People carry them in! They’re the biggest divas you could possibly have around.”

Disappointment, But Understanding

Ultimately, we understand the decision not to show Halley Wolowitz’s face. With a 10 million dollar per episode cost, there probably wasn’t money in the budget to pay for a child actor and handler. Plus, it wouldn’t make the current cast members very happy.

Still, we hope some day we get to see even just a glimpse of baby Wolowitz.
