Norman Reedus Talks Daryl Dixon Season 8

Based on past interviews and the comic con trailer, it’s clear that Daryl Dixon is “going rogue” in Season 8 of The Walking Dead. Now, however, Norman Reedus has confirmed that his character is also “ready to kill everybody.”

After being stripped, fed dog food, and forced to listen to the obnoxious “Easy Street,” Daryl Dixon has had enough. Rather than compromise or wait around, he’s ready to get revenge for the Saviors.

This means getting out the crossbow and the machine gun.

“Revenge On His Mind” This Season

“He’s just got revenge on his mind this year,” said Norman Reedus. “He’s ready to kill everybody, no matter what the group says, no matter what anybody says. [Daryl is] just like, ‘Nah, screw it. Everybody dies.’ He’s very focused on revenge.”

We saw a glimpse into this side of Daryl Dixon last season during his escape. In front of Jesus, he had the chance to let Fat Joey live and still escape. Fat Joey, the weakest of the Saviors, could have lived and possible not hurt anyone else.

But that wasn’t good enough for Daryl.

Daryl Dixon’s Principles Against Evil

This version of Daryl Dixon reminds us somewhat of Aldo Raine from Inglorious Basterds. He’s got a set of principles, and he’s not going to let those sway, no matter what happens or who tells him to stop.

“Season 8 feels like our old show again,” confirmed Norman Reedus. “The people I like working with the most are the ones I’m working with again. The gang’s back together. The fight’s back in it. Last year was so rough,” he confirmed.

Daryl Dixon was truly alone last season. What’s surprising to fans is that being on set means being alone off set. The various locations are separate, so actor Norman Reedus didn’t see much of Andrew Lincoln or Melissa McBride last year.

Now, however, everyone is back together, and they’ve got one goal in mind. Whether they kill Negan or not, he’s got to be stopped. If Daryl Dixon gets his way, however, that will mean Negan’s life comes to an end in the next 16 episodes.

Do you think Daryl Dixon will take things too far or mess up Rick’s plan?
