Walking Dead Cast Tells All At Walker Stalker Con

Carl was pulled from the group during Glenn and Abraham’s execution. Negan told Rick that he was going to have to cut off his son’s arm or else he would continue to kill people in the group.

Rick proved to be spiritually broken, so Negan didn’t take the boy’s arm.

“I had no idea it wasn’t going to happen,” said Chandler Riggs. “When I was reading the script, I was like, “Are they seriously going to cut my arm off? I was scared to death,” confirmed the young actor.

At the panel, Chandler Riggs laughed about it, but all of the actors recall how difficult the scene and the episode was to shoot. Andrew Lincoln said it was so dark that it was a “painful thing to go through.”

Some crewmembers actually walked away during production.

The Unpredictable Walking Dead

The series is very unpredictable and the Season 7 premiere was perhaps the most iconic moment of this unpredictability. It looks like just about any character can die at any minute as they face walkers and enemies alike.

Beyond the vulnerabilities of the world they live in, the show has also moved away from the comics in several storylines so there’s no backstory to fall back on. Then there are characters like Daryl Dixon who were not in the comics.

Chandler Riggs’ major concern was that Rick Grimes famously lost his hand in the comic, so it was possible the writers would want to have his son lose a hand in the show. Currently, however, Carl Grimes lives to die another day.

Did you think Rick was about to take Carl’s arm in the premiere?
