Navy SEAL Dies | Photo Credit Fox News The Navy SEAL’s group, Leap Frogs, experienced a tragedy during a routine Fleet Week demonstration for Memorial Day. The event happened for the crowd near the Statue of Liberty in New York.
Some spectators later revealed that they felt like 90 percent of the spectators were not aware of what happened. The event is even more troubling as it took place the day before Memorial Day.
“As they were landing out of the corner of my eye, I saw a splash and I heard a very distinct thump,” said an eye witness. “It’s terrible; very disturbing—very sad.”

“Sunday, four parachuters jumped out a helicopter, but only three landed safely. The fourth Navy SEAL was able to cut himself loose from a failed parachute and he plunged into Hudson River nearby. This all happened in Jersey City.”
“The U.S. Coast Guard and New Jersey Fire Department, Marine Unit was standing by and they rescued him from the water. Tragically, he was rushed to the New Jersey Medical Center but he pronounced dead an hour later.”

CBS reports:
“The parachutist, whose identity was not immediately released, was a member of an elite Navy parachute team called the Leap Frogs, a Navy spokesman said. The cause of the parachute malfunction is under investigation.”
“I’m terribly saddened,” said Nancy Malinowski, a Cranford, New Jersey, resident who was in Liberty State Park and knew something had gone wrong when she saw a parachute with nobody attached to it descend behind a building. “I don’t think 90 percent of the people there were aware,” Malinowski said, describing a gathering in the park that included food trucks, a Navy band and lots of small children. “Everybody was out there to support the military.”
