“NOT IN THE USA!” That is the overall message President Trump is conveying in a series of fiery responses to both the Islamic State and Democrats. After Tuesday’s terror attack in New York City that left eight people dead and 13 injured, it was clear the president is angry. Angry at the terrorists and at the Democrats who make it easier for this to happen.
On Tuesday, 29-year-old Uzbekistan native Sayfullo Saipov rented a truck from a Home Depot in New Jersey. He then drove to Lower Manhattan with one purpose in mind-killing Americans. Saipov mowed down riders on a bike path near the World Trade Center memorial. He subsequently rammed a school bus before being shot by an NYPD officer.
Worse than the attack itself, however, is the fact that it could have been prevented. Saipov entered the United States through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, which offers visas to countries with few immigrants to the U.S. The program began in the 1990’s and is favorite of uber-liberal Democrat, Senator Chuck Schumer.
A fact, the president was happy to point out.
“The terrorist came into our country through what is called the Diversity Visa Lottery Program, a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit-based,” President Trump said on Twitter. “We are fighting hard for Merit-based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter).”
The Opposition Party
Getting tougher and smarter in dealing with immigration and refugees, is exactly what President Trump has been trying to do. We use the word “trying” because liberal lawmakers have made it near impossible for him to accomplish his goals. The president has issued THREE travel bans, and THREE times, his orders have been blocked.
Democrats use the bans like poker chips as if gambling with the lives of Americans is a sport to them.
Only, it isn’t. At least it’s not to President Trump. In the wake of the New York City attack, he is ordering the Department of Homeland Security to ramp-up their vetting of immigrants. “I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program; he announced Tuesday evening. “Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!”
Nevertheless, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those killed and to all those injured in this horrific attack.
