Dennis Rodman Returns To North Korea

Rodman, Kim | Photo Credit Twitter Basketball Hall-of-Famer Dennis Rodman just arrived in North Korea for the first time since Donald Trump became President. Rodman told reporters that he was “just trying to open a door” with North Korea.

Rodman also told reporters, “Well, I’m pretty sure [Trump’s] pretty much happy with the fact that I’m over here trying to accomplish something that we both need.” Rodman appeared on Celebrity Apprentice the last time he visited North Korea.

Trump described Rodman as “smart in many ways,” such as “street wise.”

Kim Major Fan Of Chicago Bulls, Rodman-era

Fox News reports:

“The 56-year-old Rodman, who won five NBA championships as a player with the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls, previously traveled to North Korea in January 2014. On that trip, Rodman sang “Happy Birthday” to Dictator Kim Jong Un, who Rodman referred to as his “best friend.”

“The trip also featured Rodman and a squad of former NBA stars taking part in a pickup game as part of what Rodman called “basketball diplomacy.” Kim Jong Un reportedly is a fan of the NBA, especially the Chicago Bulls teams that Rodman played on in the late 1990s.”

Rodman Wants to Bring Sports To North Korea

CNN reports:

“Four Americans are currently being detained in North Korea. When asked if he planned to raise their detention with North Korean officials, Rodman said: “Well that’s not my purpose right now… My purpose is to go over there and try to see if I can keep bringing sports to North Korea.”

“Rodman, a former contestant on Donald Trump’s pre-presidency reality TV show “Celebrity Apprentice, “is one of the few Americans to have met current North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.”

“Rodman promoted his past visits as a form of informal “basketball diplomacy,” using sports and as a way to bridge divides, said Daniel Pinkston, a professor of International Relations at Troy University in Seoul.”
