2$3 Million Dollar Apology

Back in February, we published a story about First Lady Melania Trump’s defamation suit against The Daily Mail. The lawsuit was filed in response to a fake story that suggested Melania had also earned money working as an escort back when she was a model. It was certainly no coincidence that the story came-out during her husband’s presidential campaign.
According to her lawyers, the story not only damaged her personal reputation, it also threatened her ability to earn create a commercial brand for herself in the future. The publisher issued a facetious retraction, however, it was nothing more than another veiled attempt to defame her a second time. She never received an apology.
Now, Melania has not only received an apology, but she has received a very expensive apology. It was announced this week, that the first lady has settled the suit out-of-court for $3 million. She initially sought $150 million in damages, but in a statement on the matter, Melania’s lawyer said she was “very pleased” with the outcome.
