Yuengling Beer endorsed Donald Trump and many were livid as they sent angry Tweets in a Twitter rage. Some even said they would boycott Yuengling Beer.
The owner of the family business, Richard “Dick” Yuengling Jr., welcomed Eric Trump to the PA brewery. There, Trump’s second-oldest son said, “My father’s going to make it a lot easier for business to function. We’re going to do it right here in the U.S.” To that, Yuengling said that he and his brewery are supportive of Donald Trump. He said, “Our guys are behind your father. We need him in there.”
Not everyone is happy with their endorsement. David Perruzza from JR’s bar in Washinton, DC posted a video of himself saying he doesn’t support Yuengling because they don’t support him.
The Reasoning Behind the Choice
Why would Yuengling be supportive of Trump? Well, he says that he worries about his daughters, because he wants to pass the business down to them but the beer market is getting harder to handle because of the regulations. Which seems hard to believe. Unless you live in a remote area you will know that new breweries are on of the top business popping up around the U.S.
He thinks the government has their hands deeply embedded in his business. He added that the tax code drives businesses away. He explained to Forbes, “I’m the owner of the oldest brewery in the country. I’m trying to compete with Anheuser-Busch, which is owned by Belgians, and I’m sure the tax they pay is far less than the percentage we pay in the United States. How do you compete?”
