Sometimes, there aren’t enough words to adequately describe the bitterness that envelopes politics. Sadly, it is even harder to describe or understand the hate that clearly lives in the hearts of people like John McCain. Who, despite facing the end of his life, still finds time to slam President Trump.
Nearly 25 years ago, I lost my mom to the “Big C.” At just 23-years old, I found her battle with cancer to be both heartbreaking and life-changing. For her, for me, and for our family. But I can tell you with undeniable certainty that in the end, she had only love in her heart.
You see, she knew that it was not the time to be holding on to grudges. It pains me to say that it appears Senator McCain has not learned that valuable lesson. At least not when you consider his funeral arrangements.
On Saturday, the New York Times reported that people close to McCain contacted the White House about his funeral plans. Specifically, the Arizona senator wants Vice-President Mike Pence to attend. Trump, on the other hand, is persona non grata.
In other words, the President of the United States is not welcome at McCain’s funeral.
In addition, to pour salt in the wound, the senator is asking former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush to offer the eulogies. One of them hates this country entirely and both hate Donald Trump. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?
