Bush Speaks With Matt Lauer
In an interview with Matt Lauer, former President George W. Bush said that he favored a welcoming immigration party. During the interview, however, Bush stands strong for the war on terror.
Bush Avoids Stance On Immigration Ban
Prying a little further, Lauer asked Bush if he was for or against Trump’s immigration ban, where Bush replied: “I am for an immigration policy that’s welcoming and upholds the law.”
Bush Denies Terrorists As Religious
Bush then said it was important for America to recognize its strengths so Americans can worship how they want to or not at all. Then, he said, “People who murder the innocent are not religious people.”
Bush Feels We Need To Move Beyond Defense
Bush never directly said that he supported the ban. But, he did conclude, “It’s very hard to fight the way on terrorism if we’re in retreat.” With that comment, it seems like he understands Trump is doing what needs to be done.
Bush Believes Trump Wants To Unify America
Bush also said the media is “indispensable to democracy,” but then brought up how different things are today with so many outlets that are split up on information. As for Trump, Bush said, “I think you have to take the man for his word and he wants to unify the country.”
