The curly haired coat. It can be daunting when you look at all those tight curls and wonder how you are supposed to groom it. While caring for a curly-coated dog breed can be a bit difficult, once you get the hang of it, you’ll realize it was nothing to fear. Of course, you need to know a few tips on how to groom that coat to make it easier to manage.

What is a Curly Coat Type?

This type of coat type is exactly what it sounds like: curly. Curly coated dog breeds have a coat that is covered in soft, tight curls. It can be found in any coat length and shouldn’t be confused with the wavy coat.

Breeds that have curly coats are Poodles, Curly-Coated Retriever, Portuguese Water Dog and many of their mixed breeds. Many doodle varieties have curly coats.
