Characters come and go on The Walking Dead like clockwork. Death is always a possibility for any character, no matter how beloved. Recent developments have sparked rumors that Chandler Riggs, the young actor who plays Carl Grimes, could be leaving the show. Carl is such a pivotal character, though; could the show go on without him?

Obviously, the answer is yes. Technically the show could continue even without Rick, Carl’s father. It would just require a lot of changes and would further deviate from the original story in The Walking Dead comic book.

Spoiler alert: Carl is still alive in the comics. Still, other characters have died that are still alive in the comics and the show has simply made adjustments.
