The premiere of The Walking Dead Season 8 is one of the best episodes ever filmed. Not only is the episode action packed (as promised by Ross Marquand), but it showcases favorite characters in their element. This includes Daryl Dixon.

In the first part of the episode, we see the gang preparing their vehicles for the first attack. On the other side, Dwight is working on his motorcycle. We hear a quick “psssh” to realize that an arrow is deflating his motorcycle– Daryl.

This hilarious little moment is thanks to Daryl Dixon.

Later, it’s revealed that this is how Dwight and Daryl are communicating. Outside of the fence, Daryl Dixon has his crossbow. He sends Dwight the message, “Tomorrow,” which signifies their plans for the attack.

Dwight’s response is equally beneficial for Daryl Dixon. While it doesn’t show the message right away, we presume it’s a list of lookouts. In fact, the remainder of the episode uses this information to take down Negan’s various lookouts.

Daryl Dixon, Morgan, and Rick use this to their advantage.

A moment later, we see someone atop a tree stand. The lookout stands above a hungry walker, almost like he’s on a deer stand. We hear the crisp shot of Daryl Dixon’s crossbow, and then the body falls from the tree stand.

The body hits the ground, and then the walker is allowed to feast. Later in the episode, something similar happens. Rick Grimes takes out one of the lookouts, but he chooses the kill the man a little slower.

This is different than how Daryl and Morgan kill the others. Their actions are precise, meant to kill but in a quick manner. Rick Grimes, on the other hand, stabs his prey but lets him bleed out.

Unfortunately for this Savior, he also chooses to mouth off to Rick with his last breath. This encourages Rick to steal his lunch and allow a walker to eat him alive.

What did you think of Daryl Dixon shooting out Dwight’s tire?
