Kathy Bates Intimidated Kaley Cuoco
Kathy Bates is quite the actress. SHe’s a powerful woman, with a totally new energy behind her. Kaley Cuoco is used to playing the strongest, most powerful female character on Big Bang. Steve Holland revealed that Bates through her for a loop.
Kaley even had to rehearse standing up to Kathy’s character during the ceremony. Holland said, “It’s funny because it’s Kathy Bates and she’s a force of nature. You could see (during) rehearsals when Penny first starts to lay into her and (Mrs. Fowler) turns around and says, ‘Excuse me.’ I think the first few times Kaley actually took a little step backward.”
Stephen Hawking Was Honored
Stephen Hawking was one of Big Bang Theory’s most memorable guest stars. Though the scientist passed away in March, the producers and writers decided he should still be a part of the wedding day.
During an extended cut, Sheldon and Amy receive a wedding present from Hawking. Holland explained, “We shot a little tribute to Stephen Hawking where he had sent (Sheldon and Amy) a wedding gift before he passed away. It was a really sweet scene and a touching moment (but) our episode was really long and we had to start making trims… He was such a big part of the show and everybody’s lives, and it seemed like the wedding was a nice chance [to honor him.]” The team received permission from Hawking’s family to include the scene in bonus footage.
