Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting

Kaley Cuoco had only been dating Ryan Sweeting for six months when she agreed to marry him. The two were officially married in December of 2013 and were married for two years when the split was announced. Sources close to Cuoco say that the split was something that everyone could see coming. But just why is that?

The Cause

A prenuptial agreement was signed on the wedding day, and it was a good thing for Cuoco that this was done. Sweeting had been prescribed painkillers for a serious back injury, as he is a tennis player, just months after first meeting Kaley. He soon became dependent on the drugs, but this shouldn’t have been such a surprise. Ryan Sweeting had a history of drugs and alcohol abuse. He even got a DUI back in 2006. He was in possession of drugs with intent to sell.

‘Kaley supported him but she said he couldn’t make the commitment to get sober,’ a friend told US Weekly. ‘He’d tell her he was working on it and instead go get wasted.’
Kaley told friends that doctors prescribed him something that he was taking too much of,’ a source said. ‘That is when it went downhill again.’

Sweeting had promised to attend rehab in Boston, but sources say that it was too late by then. Honestly, it’s never too late to make a positive change and more than likely Ryan just didn’t want to commit to the work.

The Aftermath

When Cuoco finally gave the public confirmation of the divorce on the Ellen show, she explained that she had gotten the marriage date tattooed on her back and had to get it covered. Cuoco had a large moth placed over the date. Though if the prenuptial agreement hadn’t been signed, Cuoco probably would have had a lot more to deal with than a tattoo.
