Congressman Lou Correa, who represents Santa Ana, sparked outrage after his distasteful decision to hang a painting in his office of the Statue of Liberty.
What is so controversial about that you ask?
How about the fact Lady Liberty, a cherished American landmark, is dressed as a Muslim woman-complete with hijab.

The drawing, Correa said, was part of an art competition among local high school students.

“You take it in the context of a lady, probably a Muslim American-with all that’s going on, she’s a proud American,” Correa told The Register via phone. “That’s what it says to me.” Unfortunately for him, the painting doesn’t say that at all to millions of Americans. In fact, it says quite the opposite.
Mike McGetrick, from We the People Rising, believes the painting is not only unpatriotic but a violation of separation of church and state as well. “It’s a bad example for our congressman,” McGertrick said. “He shouldn’t have anything religious in his office.” If nothing else, the painting stands as clear evidence of the left’s double standards.

This isn’t the first time an art competition painting has created controversy. Earlier this year, Democratic Rep. Lacy Clay, drew the ire of law enforcement over a portrait depicting police officers as pigs. The painting was hung in the U.S. Capitol tunnel for months. Ironically, it was a California Republican, Duncan Hunter, who took the painting down.
They say, “a picture’s worth a thousand words.” If that’s true, then these two paintings speak volumes about what liberals think about America and her values.
