Border Wall

The deadline for a final federal budget is fast approaching-and Democrats are preparing for a showdown. One of President Trump’s central campaign promises was to enhance national security by protecting U.S. borders. The Southern U.S.-Mexico border wall is just one of the ways he is fulfilling his promise.

President Trump has included funding for the wall in his 2018 budget proposal that is set to be finalized on Friday. However, national security has not been high on Democrats’ priority list. They have been much more content to focus on ways to help dangerous illegal immigrants stay in the country. The president tweeted about the left’s defiance over the weekend saying:

“The Democrats don’t want money from budget going to border wall despite the fact that it will stop drugs and very bad MS 13 gang members.”

Speaking on Fox News Sunday, White House Budget Director, Mick Mulvaney, declined to say whether President Trump will force Congress to include funding for the wall. “We don’t know yet,” Mulvaney said.  “I’m not going to negotiate with you on national television. We will negotiate with the Democrats.”

Mulvaney did suggest that if a shut-down happens, Democrats would be to blame. In exchange for the border wall they want an…

ObamaCare Overhaul

We are certain that President Trump already offered an ObamaCare overhaul, when he attempted to repeal and replace it in March. As usual, that wasn’t good enough and Democrats heralded the failure as a victory for Americans. Although, we doubt seriously the 40,000 Tennessee residents that will be without coverage in 2018 would agree with them.

Mulvaney was quick to point out in his interview, that Democrats are once again obstructing national security. “We are asking for our priorities,” Mulvaney told Fox News. “I would say that they’re holding hostage national security. Again, something they’ve supported in the recent past when President Obama was in the White House.”

In contrast, Homeland Security Secretary, John Kelly, seemed to suggest on CNN that President Trump would “insist” on the funding for the wall. If the budget is not approved on Friday, all non-essential government workers could be sent home until a resolution is reached.

If they are counting on Democrats to compromise, they might as well plan their vacation.
