It’s just amazing how much happiness can be stored in just one little dog. Yes, they can’t talk and can’t understand what we’re saying either. But they do sure know when we’re depressed and need help.

Life in general is a journey of happy moments with happy people. But that’s not always the case. Not all of us are lucky enough to be surrounded by a loving family that are always there when we’re in trouble.

When bad moments come and when we’re on our own, dogs will be there for us. Even if you’re homeless, your dog will be homeless with you.

Dogs are loyal till the end, and they will share the bad and the good with their wagging tail and their support.

Eric O’Grey and his story is all about how dogs can save a life. He was told he only had five years left to live. Eric had type-2 diabetes, and medications cost him over $1,000 a month.

He weighed 340 pounds, and he felt withdrawn from society. He simply stopped living. Because of his weight and health problems, he felt uncomfortable around other people.

His life changed the moment he decided to adopt a dog named Peety. Both Eric and his dog were struggling in life. Eric was dealing with type-2 diabetes, and Peety was left neglected and alone in a backyard.

Eric’s story

“He’d gone from being in a situation like I was, where he didn’t have any friends and he didn’t know anybody, and really became a proud dog,” he said.

Peety was the only positive thing in his life. Thanks to him, Eric was able to 140 pounds. Peety wasn’t his personal trainer, but Eric was looking forward to the only positive thing in his life; daily walks with his dog.

“Beyond unconditional love, Peety taught me absolute loyalty,” he said. “He looked at me in every sense as though I was the greatest person on the planet. I decided that I wanted to be the person who he thought I was.”

Unfortunately, Peety died died of cancer. Since then, Eric adopted another dog named Jake, and he even plans to run a marathon with his new buddy.

However, Eric will always be grateful for Peety and the joy he brought to his life.

“Thanks to Peety, I wake up every day wanting to be the best person I can possibly be,” he said. “I think about it now, who rescued whom? I mean, did I rescue him or did he rescue me?”
