Jon Bernthal Talks Dead At Recent Comic Con

Jon Bernthal has had quite the career since he left The Walking Dead, when Rick Grimes was forced to kill his best friend, Shane Walsh. Now, Bernthal actually plays Frank Castle in the Marvel Universe, who is better known as the Punisher.

Because of his relationship with Marvel, Bernthal still attends Comic Con-like events such as the recent Phoenix Comicon, where he got to talk a little bit about The Walking Dead in addition to his new roles.

Bernthal’s favorite scene involved Carol’s daughter, Sophia.

Comic Book reports:

“At a combined panel with Daredevil’s Elden Henson during this weekend’s Phoenix Comicon, Bernthal revealed (via Omega Underground) that his favorite scene on The Walking Dead was when he released a reanimated Sophia — the child of one of his group members — from the barn on Hershel’s farm.”

“The scene, arguably one of the series’ most touching moments, ended with Rick shooting the infected Sophia. Although ultimately meeting his end at the hands of Rick, Bernthal’s performance on the show remains a fan-favorite.”

“After appearing in the second season of Daredevil, Bernthal will next appear in the first season of The Punisher, his one solo show slated to premiere on Netflix later this year.”

The search for Sophia isn’t from the comics, so nearly every fan was surprised to see the reanimated Sophia walking out of Hershel’s barn. The search for Sophia also united several characters on the show.

When Sophia went missing, it gave Daryl and Carol a chance to come together in the infamous Cherokee Rose scene. Beyond that, Maggie and Glenn got the chance to speak after they eventually spoke about Hershel’s barn of walkers.

If Sophia had never gotten lost, many of these relationships would have never happened.
