Tom Petty Tour 2017

Tom Petty is one of the great rock musicians still out there rocking and rolling on the road today.

Petty has spent the last few years touring with his band Mudcrutch, leaving some speculating if we had seen the end of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.  However, rumors have been circulating that Petty has revived his desire to tour with his old band playing his 1995 LP Wildflowers.  As speculation continues to rise, so too do the hopes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fans wishing for a tour in 2017.

In 1976 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers formed in Gainesville, Florida and have been a force in rock since the 1980s.  The Heartbreakers have an extensive library of hit songs, “Learning to Fly”, “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Free Falling,” “Refugee,” “Breakdown” and many more.  Petty has collaborated with Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Dave Grohl, and Bob Dylan; he is an American poet and legendary rock star.

Petty has been touring with the Heartbreakers for decades, widely recognized as one of the most consistent live rock performers.  Over the past two years Tom Petty has been touring with his original band Mudcrutch, formed in 1970, that is actually comprised of members from The Heartbreakers.

According to recent reports Tom Petty an awesome tour in mind for 2017

Rolling Stone reports that “he’s already thinking about his plans for 2017. While the singer has yet to confirm any shows, he hopes to finally release an expanded edition of his 1995 LP solo Wildflowers and then potentially play all of it on the road.”

The album, Wildflowers, was Petty’ third solo album and one of his most successful.

The album included “You Don’t Know How It Feels,” which went to number #13 on the Billboard Charts.  Wildflowers went triple-platinum in the United States and remains one of Tom Petty’s most successful records. The plan for 2017 is to revisit and re-release the Wildflowers album as a double album.

Following the release of Wildflowers, Petty says “I want to take the Heartbreakers and whoever else I need to reproduce every sound in a big way,” he tells Rolling Stone. “That album was really about sound in a big way. I would like to go out there and perform the entire album as it was originally conceived with all of the songs.”

Theoretically the Tom Petty Wildflowers 2017 tour would consist of a number of unreleased songs.  In the past Petty has claimed that he is totally against playing any of his albums in it’s entirety, but after a long period of reflection it appears as though he has changed his mind.

Tom Petty is widely considered to be one of the great songwriters in music history.  He is a true poet and a rock icon in the world of music.  Tom Petty touring in 2017 playing Wildflowers in it’s entirety is an incredible show to attend.
