After being elected as the nation’s 45th President, Donald Trump announced that he would be donating his salary to worthy causes.
Given the fact that he is a billionaire, it stood to reason he didn’t need the money. More than that, however, his decision served to solidify that he was serious about his promise to give back to the country that has given him so much.

In keeping with that promise, government officials recently announced the president has donated his first quarter salary of $78,333 and liberals will no doubt be outraged when they find out where it went–the Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland. The park is home to the hallowed ground that marks the single bloodiest day in the Civil War. While the left is busy tearing down civil war monuments, essentially eradicating American history, President Trump is helping to preserve them.
And he isn’t alone. An anonymous donor added an additional $22,000 to President Trump’s salary, making the total donation to Antietam just over $100,000. The money will be used to restore a historic house on the battlefield and replace old fencing around the property. Interior Secretary, Ryan Zinke, was moved by the president’s choice.

“As both the Secretary of the Interior and a military veteran, I’m deeply honored and humbled to deliver the donation to Antietam National Battlefield on behalf of President Trump,” Mr. Zinke said. “The president’s donation will allow generations of Americans to learn about our history and heritage on this sacred site.”
It is so refreshing to have a president that understands that erasing our history is not a sign of progress, isn’t it? Groups like “Take ‘Em Down NOLA,” who have all but destroyed the city of New Orleans, believe that Civil War monuments exist as a means of paying homage to racism. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. They exist as a reminder of where we’ve been and where we are going.
President Trump clearly understands that and thanks to him, we can finally start moving forward again.
