Will Obama Frontrun Donald Trump’s Intent to Appoint a Special Prosecutor to Review the Hacked Clinton E-mails?
The White House isn’t ruling out the possibility of Clinton receiving a last-minute pardon from President Obama.
There is a precendent for this. Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon for his role in Watergate in 1974. “At the time, he justified his decision by claiming that an extensive trial would have further polarized the country.”
The question is whether Obama is willing to take the inevitable flak he will receive now and in the historical record for letting egregious violations go unpunished. Will he take a similar position as Gerald Ford? Of course he will.
Trump Backing Clinton Pardon?
Trump in the debates, created a stir on the news and with his supporters when he claimed multiple times that if he were president, “She would be in jail.”
The Dailymail reported a slight wrinkle in that story this morning. Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, said on a series of morning shows Wednesday, that the subject hadn’t come up. “We have not discussed that at all, and he certainly did not discuss that on his brief phone call with Mrs. Clinton,” she said on MSNBC. Conway suggested that Trump wouldn’t pursue a case against Clinton, however.
“I think you heard his own words last night — to the extent that one man can as president, certainly Vice President Pence who’s phenomenal, they’re looking to unify the country,” she said. “But we haven’t discussed that in recent days. And I think that it’s all in good time.”
Taking a cue from Conway, the president’s spokesman indicated today that he too believed Trump move on from Clinton in the wake of his victory. “We have a long tradition in this country of people in power not using the criminal justice system to enact political revenge.” He also said. “In fact, we go a long way to insulate the criminal justice system from partisan politics.”
Are Hillary’s Hands Bloody?
Hillary may be safe, but the Clinton Foundation will continue to come under fire. We will see in the coming weeks and months how hard the Trump administration will come after the Clinton Foundation, which has engaged in obvious corruption on a massive scale for years, making Hillary millions upon millions of bloody dollars.
