Last night, President Trump named conservative Neil Gorsuch to Supreme Court. Conservatives cried out in excitement at the announcement, however, it was short-lived.
The Democrats in the Senate have another plan – and, you guessed it, they are are planning to block President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, regardless of who is chosen to fill the position. They had already begun to erect this plan weeks ago, long before the SCOTUS pick had even been announced.
There is only one person that they will agree upon.
Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley announced that he would filibuster the nominee unless President Trump’s Supreme Court pick is Judge Merrick Garland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
Garland was selected by former President Barack Obama, but Senate Republicans blocked the nomination for nearly a year after he was chosen to fill a spot for the late Justice Antonin Scalia. They…
