Assad Tells Press Chemical Attack A Lie

Syria Attack | Photo Credit Fox News Syrian President Bashar al-Assad just told the press that the suspected chemical attack was a “fabrication” so the U.S. could justify a military attack on Syria. Moscow continues to back Syria despite this public cover-up.

Assad held his first interview since the attack with AFP, where he also said that his army had given up chemical weapons and the Syrian military power was not at all affected by the U.S. strike.

“Definitely, 100 percent for us, it’s fabrication,” said the Syrian President.

The AFP reports:

“Our impression is that the West, mainly the United States, is hand-in-glove with the terrorists. They fabricated the whole story in order to have a pretext for the attack.”

“Western leaders including US President Donald Trump have accused Assad of being behind last week’s attack in the rebel-held town Khan Sheikhun, saying his forces unleashed a chemical weapon during an air strike. The suspected attack killed at least 87 people, including many children, and images of the dead and of suffering victims provoked global outrage.”

“Syria denied any use of chemical weapons and Moscow said the deaths had been the result of a conventional strike hitting a rebel arms depot containing “toxic substances.”

Politico reports:

“The Russian government, in particular, has denied that Assad’s government was to blame, arguing instead that the attack was the result of a conventional airstrike that hit a rebel cache of chemical weapons. The U.S. has argued that its evidence shows otherwise.”

“Russia, through its foreign minister and ambassador to the United Nations, has called for an independent and objective investigation into the attack but has been critical of the type of non-governmental organizations that would typically carry out such an inquiry. In his Wednesday interview with AFP, Assad similarly said his nation would allow only an “impartial” investigation.”
