The Walking Dead Season 7 just ended, and fans are already laying out their predictions for Season 8 and beyond. The main points, of course, revolve around Rick’s War with Negan and the Saviors.

In Issue 127 of the comic, there’s actually a time jump of several years. The war with Negan has ended and Rick has truly turned Alexandria into a Safe Zone. Hilltop and the Kingdom are also working together and trying to be normal.

Then, of course, everything goes wrong.

“For the people who read the comics, they’re going to be expecting this,” said the showrunner. “We’re doing the book, we do all sorts of variations on it, and then we do things that are inspired by it and then we change things up with a remix.”

“But I will say there are things that happen in that tie jump that are referred to that are super interesting,” said Gimple, meaning that the show could explore more of the story than the comic does.

“We might see some of that stuff,” said Gimple.”
