They say that the ideals of a man can be summed up in the quotes and phrases he shares with others.

For Donald Trump, his faith can be a hard area to determine. The president-elect is not often given to speeches about areas of religion.

In the latter months of his campaign, Mr. Trump did begin to identify with evangelicals. Some might say he did that simply to cater to the religious right. But it really isn’t up to anyone else to determine another’s belief system.

That right is reserved for God. A person’s relationship with the Almighty is between that person and their Maker — or whomever they place their confidence in. The same is true for Donald Trump.

Some of Trump’s most fascinating quotes, are born from what he intrinsically believes. It’s interesting how much of Donald Trump’s ideas are rooted in biblical scripture, and his father’s influence.

The Impact of a Father

About fiscal responsibility and his father’s legacy, Trump said, “My legacy from my father is embodied in the saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” I drive myself because I must.”

No one can accuse Donald of being lazy. His work ethic fits with the Bible verse that says, “And unto one he gave five (abilities) talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability…” (Matthew 25:15, KJV)

Donald Trump was blessed with much as a young lad, but has worked hard to maintain it and acquire more. His shrewd business mind played well at building the business legacy he has today.

Another quote from Trump about his father had to do with inspiration. “While I was in military school, my father got into the habit of sending me inspirational quotes each week. I can remember a lot of them and they continue to inspire me today.”

The quote image here makes me think Mr. Trump’s father may have shared this inspirational verse with his son.

What was important to his dad carried over to the son. Trump believes strongly in the ideas his father passed down to him. His dad was his hero and in many ways that speaks volumes to character.

Clear Perspective about Jesus

In June of this year, Trump was asked by Commentator Cal Thomas, “Who do you say Jesus is?” It took the man a couple of times to answer. But his reply was straightforward.

“Jesus to me is somebody I can think about for security and confidence. Somebody I can revere in terms of bravery and in terms of courage, and because I consider the Christian religion so important, somebody I can totally rely on in my own mind.”

Many question the honesty of whether Trump lives his faith in comparison to what he says. Others have taken the fact that he won the election as a sign that God’s hand placed him in office.

Maybe he does send mixed signals about his Christian stance — but Donald Trump is a man, not the Almighty. Besides, are any of us perfect?

What do you think about Donald Trump’s position on faith? Is he sincere? Is there a top inspirational quote from Trump you’d like to share?
