Sadie Robertson recently shared that she had a close call in Somalia earlier this week. The Duck Dynasty star had been traveling with her family and performing mission work. She shared her heart breaking story on social media.

Sadie Robertson had been traveling in Somalia just hours before a devastating bomb went off right near her hotel. The Duck Dynasty star told her followers, “my heart is broken. I have spent the past 4 days in Mogadishu, Somalia… 1 hour after our plane took off this morning a massive bomb went off less than a half mile from the hotel I have been staying at and very near to the homes of all of my friends there.” Sadie described her time in the city as, “It has been an experience like no other. 4 days of Love • Connection • Friendship • Passion • Hope.”
Sadie and the rest of the Roberson family often travel on mission trips. This summer Mary Kate Robertson recounted how the family traveled to Iquitos in partnership with the non-profit organization Help One Now.vSince Duck Dynasty’s cancellation the family has had much more time to travel, and spread their wealth and faith.

Sadie described the terrible bombing, “The whole city shook and the whole city is shaken. The area at this point is unrecognizable.” Reports show that over 300 have been injured, and many more are trapped.

Sadie made a plea to her friends for prayers. She wrote, “These new friends of mine are passionate, hopeful, hardworking, beautiful, loving, and human just like you. They have been through more in life than many of us can understand, but stronger then many of us will ever be. Today they were hit again. Hard. Nearly 40 people already found dead. Please pray. my heart is broken.”
Many fans had no idea that the Robertsons were in the area. They had not previously posted about the trip, perhaps on purpose.
We are glad they are out of harm’s way, and our hearts are broken for the people of Somalia. Sadie Robertson certainly has a heart of gold, and we hope she reaches out and perhaps helps with aid to the area.
