Over the years, Wil Wheaton has been on The Big Bang Theory several times. At first, he was Sheldon Cooper’s enemy. Then, they became friends. Now, however, Wil Wheaton has enraged Sheldon Cooper once more.

In “The Proton Regeneration,” the two go head-to-head for the role of Professor Proton. Since the character of Arthur Jefferies died on the show, the creators want to reboot the science show for kids.

When he hears the news, Sheldon Cooper wants to audition for the new role, but it’s clear he doesn’t quite understand the job.

Despite his passion for science, Sheldon doesn’t know how to connect with kids. Wil Wheaton, on the other hand, is a professional actor, so he gets the role as the new Professor Proton.

At first, Sheldon doesn’t understand this. He believes that the replacement should be a professional scientist. The others agree with him, except for Raj who thinks Merle Streep should get the role.

By the end, Sheldon still has mixed feelings about Wil Wheaton’s new job.

Despite the fact that Sheldon Cooper would rather he have the job than Wil Wheaton, it’s likely for the best. As Amy said, Sheldon’s short audition was both “confusing” and “dangerous.”

With Wil Wheaton taking on the new role of Professor Proton, the series will live on, and new generations of children will love science. After all, that is the true reason why Leonard and Sheldon chose science in the first place.

We get to see a glimpse of this on Young Sheldon. In the prequel, Sheldon and his sister watch Professor Proton after school. Since the boy is a genius, he can do whatever he likes, but he chooses science because of this series.

In fact, when encouraged to pursue music at school, he turns it down. As a boy, he feels like science—specifically Physics—is more important than anything else. In fact, Sheldon still finds this to be true.

What do you think about Wil Wheaton as the new Professor Proton?
