Simon Helberg grew up in Los Angeles and may have been destined for Hollywood greatness. One of his first roles was on Judd Apatow’s second series, Undeclared, that essentially was a college version of Freaks and Geeks.

Back in 2002, Ryan Reynolds starred in Van Wilder and brought back National Lampoon as a real comedy contender. The film followed Reynolds and Tara Reid’s relationship in the movie.

Helberg played a small role as a nerdy frat guy that paid Wilder to throw his organization a killer party.

Like Van Wilder, Old School was also one of the best comedies in the early 2000s. From Todd Phillips (The Hangover), the film starred Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Ferrell, but Helberg played one of the young pledges in the group’s frat.

After MADtv, Helberg landed several small roles in films and television like Reno 911!, Unscripted, Arrested Development, Joey, Evan Almighty, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

However, Helberg’s role in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog made him a cult icon. The film, which stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible, follows an aspiring super villain as he works to balance his career and his love life.

The series also stars Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer, Felicia Day as Penny, and Otto Michael Penzato as the Driver. Simon Helberg played “Moist” in all three episodes, a villain who was always wet….

The silly comedy hit several top ten lists in New York Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle and The Washington Post.
