Sheldon Meet Sheldon
What a great time: saw the fantastic @wecomefromaway with the equally fantastic @iainlovestheatre ??
Iain Armitage will be playing a young Sheldon in the new CBS spin-off series. He got his start critiquing theater and Broadway shows. It was a match made in heaven when he got to attend Come From Away With Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons.
Jim Parsons posted a photo with Iain Armitage on his Instagram earlier this week. The pair attended the Broadway show Come From Away together. Iain will be portraying Jim’s younger self in the new Sheldon spin-off series. Jim wrote, “What a great time: saw the fantastic [Come From Away] with the equally fantastic [Iain Armitage].”
It seems the two Sheldons really enjoyed each other. Iain’s parent’s Instagram was captioned, “Iain was so happy to see one of his favorite shows with one of his favorite people! Thank you for a great evening, Jim Parsons! Come From Away remains such a terrific show and it was fun to celebrate the cast tonight!”
Iain got his start in entertainment on Youtube where he regularly critiques musicals and plays. He may be pint size, but he sure knows a lot about theater. He speaks eloquently with a lot of precision. We can see why he would be cast as the young Sheldon.
He and his family are no strangers to the entertainment industry. His father played Boy George in the Broadway musical Taboo. He also toured with Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Perhaps he’s where Iain gets all of his theatrical talents.
The New Sheldon Spin-off Series
Tonight it’s @misssaigonus – and Iain’s friend @chandler.head is seeing her first Broadway show!!
The new Sheldon spin-off series will debut on CBS sometime in the 2017-2018 season. Iain isn’t the only actor cast so far. Zoe Perry will play his mother, Mary Cooper. Zoe is the actual daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who plays Sheldon’s mother on the regular series. Jim Parsons will also narrate as an older Sheldon Cooper looking back.
