Phil Robertson recently spoke about the 2016 presidential election and explained that he still defends his vote for President Trump. Here’s what the Duck Dynasty star had to say about the President’s progress so far.

Phil Robertson On The Election

Phil Robertson wasn’t immediately on the Trump bandwagon. Unlike his son Willie Robertson, Phil took some convincing when it came to endorsing Trump. Initially, Phil was in support of Ted Cruz. In a Cruz Commercial, Phil said, “Is he or she godly, does he or she love us, can he or she do the job? And finally, would they kill a duck and put ’em in a pot and make a good duck gumbo?… Ted Cruz is my man.”

However, when Trump defeated Cruz in the primaries, Robertson jumped ship and told Cruz to move on. He told USA Today, “We gave it a good shot there, Ted, but it’s time to move on. Maybe a little forgiveness is in order and let’s go forward and let’s get behind the man our people said they wanted in the White House…”

Now, nearly a year later, Phil has admitted his vote for Trump had a lot to do with Hilary Clinton. In an interview with Fox Business, he said, “I watched Donald Trump operate. I voted for him. I looked at the alternative, and it was a no-brainer. And I’m still looking at what could have been the alternative, and I’m thinking with all of the vitriol and the hatred and watching every move he makes…I’m saying the man has done remarkably well.”

“I Don’t Have A Big Beef With Him”

Phil continued to say he sees no problem with Trump’s presidency thus far. He stated, “I just don’t have a big beef with him. I’ve looked at his policies; I just don’t have a big beef with it.”

Phil is hopeful that President Trump will bring significant tax cuts to Americans. We’re interested to hear more of his political opinions, unfiltered, on his new show Phil In The Woods. Phil Robertson is certainly not holding back, and his fans are happy about it.
