Ask anyone to name the most popular Disney Channel show of the last decade. The answer you’re almost certain to hear is Phineas and Ferb. The hit animated show ran for four seasons and 222 episodes from 2007-2015. Now, the creators of Phineas and Ferb are back with a new Disney XD show called Milo Murphy’s Law.
Introducing Milo Murphy
The new show follows the adventures of 13-year-old Milo Murphy. Milo is the great-great-great-great grandson of Edward A. Murphy, Jr., who originated the term “Murphy’s Law.”

According to Disney XD, Milo “is the personification of Murphy’s Law, where anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.”
Famous parody musician “Weird Al” Yankovic will provide the voice of Milo Murphy on the show. Girl Meets World star Sabrina Carpenter will play Milo’s friend, Melissa Chase.
In addition, Milo Murphy’s Law will boast an impressive number of recurring voice actors. The list includes Christian Slater, Sarah Chalke, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Vanessa Williams, Jemaine Clement, and Mackenzie Phillips.

“Milo is always expecting the unexpected. No matter what goes wrong – and it constantly does – Milo is prepared for every possibility, armed with knowledge, a backpack of supplies, and an endless sense of optimism and enthusiasm that can turn any catastrophe into an adventure.
In each 22-minute episode, comprised of two 11-minute stories, Milo, along with his best friends Zack and Melissa, find ways to think outside of the box while enjoying life’s obstacles.”
A New Series From Two Legendary Animators
Milo Murphy’s Law was created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. Povenmire is a longtime veteran of the animation business. He worked on series such as Hey Arnold!, The Simpsons, Rocko’s Modern Life, and Spongebob Squarepants. He was nominated for an Annie award in 2005 for his longtime work as a director on Family Guy. He left that show to create Phineas and Ferb.
Marsh is also an animation veteran, having spent six years on The Simpsons. In addition, he worked on King of the Hill, Rocko’s Modern Life, Postman Pat, and more. Povenmire and Marsh originally created Phineas and Ferb in 1993, based on their childhood summer vacations. They spent 16 years pitching the show before Disney Channel finally picked it up.
On June 12, 2015, the series ended it’s long run with the hour-long special, “Phineas and Ferb: Last Day of Summer,” simulcast on both Disney XD and Disney Channel.
Milo Murphy’s Law is Coming Soon
Povenmire and Marsh immediately moved on to begin work on Milo Murphy’s Law. The new show will debut on Monday, October 3 on Disney XD. The premiere episode is titled “Going the Extra Milo.” Here’s the official synopsis for the first episode:
Zack Underwood, a new kid in town, meets Milo Murphy, the unluckiest kid in town. Because of Milo’s misfortune, he and Zack both miss the bus for school, so Milo shows Zack a “shortcut” to school, while attempting to avoid wolves, bees, fire, and even an alien abduction. Meanwhile, Melissa Chase, a friend of Milo’s, collects lunches as wagers from other students on whether or not Milo and Zack will make it to school before the bell rings.
