Trump Is Our President

Oscar-winning actor and Texas native, Matthew McConaughey, was recently interviewed by BBC host Andrew Marr. He was there to discuss his new movie “Gold.”
Marr referenced McConaughey’s new movie as appearing to be about “small time, central redneck America sticking one up to the snotty East Coast elites, as it were.” But, as with every celebrity interview recently, the subject of President Trump came up.
And his response was not what you would expect from a Hollywood favorite. Quite the contrary in fact. Marr moved the conversation away from the movie and to the issue of celebrities trashing the president.
Marr was obviously referring to instances like Meryl Streep’s speech at the Golden Globe awards. Or he could’ve been talking about Madonna’s tirade at the “Women’s March”.
Then he asked Matthew if he thought it was time to “give Trump a break”? His response was essentially…

“Well, they don’t have a choice now, he’s our President. It’s very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration and time that we’ve ever had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact and be constructive with him over the next four years”.
When word of his comments hit social media, McConaughey received both praise and criticism. Supporters embraced his call for unity and cooperation. Critics mocked him about his wealth and skin color.
His detractors may conveniently be forgetting that his wife is Camila Alves. A Brazil native who became a U.S. citizen in 2015. McConaughey angered many on the left when he tweeted a picture of himself with Camila and their two children the day she gained her citizenship.
He has also been very outspoken about his beliefs on traditional marriage and Christianity. Beliefs that have frequently ruffled the feathers of the Hollywood elites.
But he is not alone in his message to embrace President Trump. Nicole Kidman also received criticism when she urged Americans to support the president.
