Top cable sports network ESPN, is finding themselves in hot water this week. Word recently got out that the network asked one of their college football announcers to not call a game in Virginia. Why? Because his name is Robert Lee. What makes their request even more appalling is the fact that Mr. Lee is Asian. Photo credit: Fox News

Can an Asian man named Robert Lee really cause a problem calling a college football game?

Thanks to leftists and mainstream media, yes.

Lee, who has been a sportscaster with ESPN since 2016, was moved to a different game because his name is similar to Confederate General Robert E. Lee. After the riots in Charlottesville, the network felt moving Lee was the responsible decision.

ESPN’s viewership has markedly declined in recent months. Industry insiders believe their co-mingling of liberal politics with sports is to blame. The network issued a full statement on their decision to move Lee on Tuesday night:

“We collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name. In that moment, it felt right to all parties. It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play-by-play for a football game has become an issue.”

Newsflash ESPN-it wasn’t an issue until you made it one. And what do they mean “it felt right to all parties?”

Did Mr. Lee have a choice?

After all, he has only been with the network for a year. More likely, he wanted to keep his job and they painted him into a corner. They pandered to the racial narrative of liberal politicians and mainstream media.

Absolutely no sane person would make a connection between an Asian man named Robert Lee and a deceased, white Confederate General. ESPN should stick to what they know. Politics and American history are obviously not their game.
