Rep. Brad Sherman, Democrat from California, introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump accusing him of interfering in the Russia investigation.

Drafted back in June, H.R. 438 was formally introduced by Sherman on the House floor on Wednesday. Joining his effort was Democrat Rep. Al Green from Texas.

In fact, they are none too happy about Sherman filing official impeachment paperwork, concerned they have no solid evidence of President Trump having colluded with Russia. The articles alleged that President Trump violated “his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States.” Trump “has prevented, obstructed and impeded the administration of justice during a federal investigation,” Sherman’s resolution said. Despite President Trump’s repeated denials of any wrongdoing, and no evidence to contradict those denials, the Russia investigation has dogged the first six months of his presidency.

“In all of this, Donald John Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as president and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States,” the articles read. “Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.”

A successful vote for impeachment would require a majority in the House, where Republicans have 46 more seats than Democrats.
