Pentagon Sends Two More Aircraft Carriers

South Korean news outlet Yonhap reports that the Pentagon has directed three U.S. aircraft carriers to head towards the Korean Peninsula. Beyond the CVN-70 Carl Vinson, the U.S. has also sent the CVN-76 Ronald Reagan and the CVN-86 Nimitz.
These two carriers are coming from Japan and Oregon, so they will arrive sometime next week. One senior government official also revealed that the U.S. and South Korea will soon be discussing joint drills that include the trio of carriers.

“While details are scarce, and we would urge confirmation from US-based sources, Yonhap also reports that according to the government source the operation of three aircraft carriers in the same location is unusual, and demonstrates the US commitment to North Korea. Other sources said the Trump administration is demonstrating deterrence by acting on its behalf. “We expect it to be completely different from the previous administration.”
“On Sunday, Pyongyang launched an unidentified projectile, but the test reportedly failed. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) stated that the attempted launch was conducted from the area near North Korea’s eastern port city of Sinpo, but likely ended in a failure.”
China And Russia Probe U.S. Movements

The Salt Late Tribune reports:
“China and Russia have dispatched intelligence-gathering vessels from their navies to chase the USS Carl Vinson nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, which is heading toward waters near the Korean Peninsula, multiple sources of the Japanese government revealed to The Yomiuri Shimbun.”
Apparently both China and Russia are trying to analysis the movements of the U.S., specifically in regards to North Korea. Both countries prioritize stability within the Korean Peninsula, hence their concerns with U.S. carriers being in those waters.
These intelligence-gathering vessels were likely sent out to deliver a warning to the United States about the territory.
