Why Is The DOE Funding Islamic Teachings?

According to the Christian Action Network, the Department of Education is currently funding thorough lesson plans about the Islamic Faith. Using PBS, the DOE is creating materials for students to quiz students on what a Muslim prayer sounds like and looks like.

Tucker Carlson reports:

“The first Amendment prohibits the establishment of a state religion in this country. These days, that law is usually used to stop prayers at football games and other dangerous expressions of faith like that, but now a Christian group says that it is needed to stop the federal government from promoting the religion of Islam.”

PBS Teaches Islam On DOE’s Dollar

The PBS website reveals that “Funding for ACCESS ISLAM is provided by the U.S. Department of Education. Major funding for RELIGION & ETHICS NEWSWEEKLY is provided by the Lilly Endowment, with addition funding provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Mutual of American Life Insurance Company.”

Martin Mawyer, who founded the Christian Action Network also said that each Islamic program has the official DOE seal listed, which means they back the programs. Mawyer was shocked to discover they were funding Islamic lessons.

“Teachers are expected to ask their students, “What does a Muslim prayer sound like? What do Muslim prayer movements look like? What are some of the things that Muslims say when they are praying?” said Mawyer. “You have to ask yourself, Why does the federal government find it necessary for our kids—grades 5-12—know what a Muslim prayer sounds like?”

An official press release from the CAN reads:

“Christian Action Network (CAN) has sent a “Letter of Demand” to the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) mandating that it cease its Islamic education program for the nation’s public schools. The DOE Islamic education program is currently being presented to the nation’s schools and teachers through the PBS LearningMedia website.

“If the conditions of its “Letter of Demand” are not met within 60 days, CAN will bring a federal lawsuit against the DOE challenging the constitutionality of the federally funded program.

“CAN is also issuing a “Letter of Demand” to the Public Broadcasting Service demanding that it also remove all Islamic educational material from its PBS LearningMedia that violates the U.S. Constitution.

“Martin Mawyer, president of CAN, says, “Much of this so-called educational material is nothing more than indoctrinating students into Islamic religious beliefs, duties and actions.”
