On Saturday, Hillary Clinton’s team said they would participate in a Wisconsin recount process, initiated by Green Party candidate, Jill Stein. They also said they would join any potential recounts in Pennsylvania and Michigan, two other closely contested states.

Clinton team’s general counsel, Marc Eric Elias, announced Clinton’s intentions on Medium.

Clinton lost all three battleground states by little more than 100,000 votes. In Wisconsin, Clinton lost by 22,177 votes, while she was shy 10,704 in Michigan, and 70,638 votes in Pennsylvania.

However, Elias explained that they have little to no expectation the recount procedures will change the result of the election. They will also not contribute money to fund the recount procedure.

Stein raised more than $5 million for the effort, and filed for the Wisconsin recount about an hour before the deadline on November 25th. She is also expected to file for recount in the coming week, making the deadlines for Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Team Has Seen “No Actionable Evidence”

The team said they are only going along with Stein’s recount efforts to assure Clinton supporters they’re doing everything possible to ensure any irregularities have not affected the results of the election.

Elias explained they have received various forms of correspondence, either asking or telling them to do something.

The team, through Elias, further explained they had seen no “actionable evidence” of vote-hacking that might challenge Donald Trump’s victory. This is why they did not exercise the option to pursue recounts themselves.

They also said they are participating with Stein’s recount procedures to, “Ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides.”

Prior Investigations

In the same post, Elias outlined the steps the team is taking to determine whether the tally in the three battleground states have been affected by outside interference. He disclosed that they had lawyers, data scientists, and analysts studying the results to discover inconsistencies, which would have confirmed hacking.

Elias also claimed they have sought expert help, outside their circles, to corroborate their findings. He also assured Clinton supporters that all theories voiced to them have been investigated to the best of their abilities — including research on laws and practices connected to recounts, contests, and audits of the election votes.

On November 25th, The White House issued a statement that the election was free of any interference, be it Russia’s or other groups’.

The following day, they reaffirmed this statement and said, “The federal government did not observe any increased level of malicious cyberactivity aimed at disrupting our electoral process on elections.”

Going Back In Time

During the campaign, Trump said he would not abide by the results of the election if he lost. This statement drew flak and criticism from both the Clinton campaign team and their supporters — going so far as to warn that this form of questioning is, “…threatening our democracy.”

I guess perception changes when the the vote goes to the other side.

Clinton did call Trump to concede when Trump was leading with a large margin on the electoral votes. Whether she stands by her concession remains to be seen.

What do you think about the post-election accusations and actions?
