The thought police are pushing full steam ahead in the California Senate. A new bill, SB 219, is proposing fines and jail time for those who work in public health and retirement communities. So, what crime must they commit to receive such a harsh punishment? Photo credit: APHF

Using the wrong transgender pronoun.

Democratic State Senator, Scott Wiener, is the author of the proposed legislation. As Breitbart reported, the bill contains several directives with regards to dealing with transgender patients. For instance, it would be unlawful for a health care worker or a facility to neglect the gender identity of a patient.

Requirements include placing patients in a room that corresponds to their chosen sex and allowing them to use the restroom of their choice. Furthermore, the law mandates they can wear clothing and make-up that aligns with their chosen gender.

Consequently, this is how the bill defines gender identity:

“Gender identity means a person’s identity based on the individual’s stated gender identity, without regard to whether the self-identified gender accords with the individual’s physical appearance, surgical history, genitalia, legal sex, sex assigned at birth, or name and sex, as it appears in medical records, and without regard to any contrary statement by any other person, including a family member, conservator, or legal representative.”

Jail Time and Fines

SB 219 suggests jail time and fines for any long-term healthcare employee who refuses to use the correct transgender pronoun. Fines for repeat offenders can be as high as $1000 and jail time could be as much as one year.

In his testimony before the California Assembly Judiciary Committee, California Family Council member, Greg Burt, asked: “How can you believe in free speech, but think the government can compel people to use certain pronouns when talking to others?”

“Compelled speech is not free speech,” he said. In addition, Burt also asked what happens next if a bill like this passes.

“Can the government compel a newspaper to use certain pronouns that aren’t even in the dictionary?” Burt asked.

Given the cultural cleansing America is experiencing right now, it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility, does it?
