As we recently reported, Bob Dylan finally accepted the Nobel Prize for Literature after no acknowledging it and missing the ceremony. But the way in which he accepted the award was classic Dylan.

And it was intimate, just as Dylan wanted.

Dylan made it clear from the get-go that he wasn’t too thrilled about winning the award, which he earned “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition,” says the academy.

But when he arrived at the small gathering to receive the prize, Dylan quickly entered the back door wearing a black hoodie. This whole thing sounds like a back alley drug deal — back doors, black hoodies, secret meetings. It’s all very sketchy sounding.

But Danius then revealed what happened during this secret meeting.

“Quite a bit of time was spent looking closely at the gold medal,” she told The Guardian. “In particular the beautifully crafted back, an image of a young man sitting under a laurel tree who listens to the Muse. Spirits were high. Champagne was had.”

When Consequence Of Sound reported on this, they were either trying to start a rumor, or they knew something we don’t know.

“We cannot confirm whether or not Dylan forgot the Nobel Prize in the backseat of a cab hours later,” they reported.
