The news is out- Johnny Galecki is executive producing a show for CBS called Living Biblically. The show will surround a young man coming of age and resolving to live literally by the bible- accepting obscure rules most modern day Christians do not. It sounds fascinating, and probably pretty funny. However, is Galecki religious? What point of view will this be from? We explore.

Living Biblically will be based on a book of the same name by AJ Jacobs. Jacobs wrote on his website,The Year of Living Biblically is about my quest to live the ultimate biblical life. To follow every single rule in the Bible as literally as possible.” The book turned into a critique of fundamentalism, a memoir, and a spiritual journey according to Jacobs. He certainly did not approach the material with disrespect for the religion. Instead, he approached the work with fresh eyes and a doubting but hopeful nature.

Will Johnny use the same approach?

Not much is known about Johnny Galecki’s religion. We know that he cares deeply about social justice. He frequently speaks out through social media about causes that concern him in today’s world. We also know that he was raised Catholic according to an interview with Stephen Colbert.

In the interview he says that being raised in the church “was wonderful,” but not much else.
