Garth Brooks is a name synonymous with the country music superstar. With an almost meteoric rise in the 1980s, he cemented himself in music history. He certainly has stories to tell. And he’s about to tell them all.

A Long History
Brooks is taking a long look back at his career. A long look.
According to Billboard, November 14 will see the release of the first volume of a 5-part anthology of his life. Part 1: The First Five Years covers the beginning of his career, from 1989-1993. Those were big years in his career.
The book is his own words. In it, he details the stories behind almost every track of the five albums that released during that time in which he first rose to mega-fame. There are also stories from other artists, songwriters, and musicians. CDs and liner notes accompany the book.
It even has his job application for the Nashville store where he worked while attempting to become an artist.
Billboard details the first volume as a “240-page hardcover book [that] includes more than 150 never-before-seen photos, as well as 5 CDs, including outtakes, first takes, demos and masters. Of the 52 songs included on the CDs, 19 are new, unreleased or demo versions.”
The remaining four parts will cover his music in the 90s, as well as his life since coming out of retirement in 2014. He also revealed to Billboard that each volume would have a two to two-and-a-half hour accompanying documentary. That means 10-12 hours of film.

The Thunder Rolls On
Brooks is still a major player on the scene. In fact, he is the reigning Entertainer of the Year and again nominated at this year’s Country Music Association Awards. As an aside, Billboard also mentions that he is the only artist to have won the title five times.
It isn’t surprising that he maintains his strong presence. His website states that he is “certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the #1 selling solo artist in U.S. history with 149 million albums.”
