Player Ratings against Celta Vigo

Barcelona just played one of the worst games in the last few years. The whole team was below their best, including Enrique. His tactic rotation plan wasn’t working, and the players were trashed by Celta in the first half.

They were close to getting a draw in the second half, but Ter Stegen made a mistake and it was all over for Barcelona.

The only two players that were above the rest of the team are Iniesta and Pique. Iniesta wasn’t a starter, but he contribute to the attempt to save the game in the second half. Pique scored two headers, and he was solid at defending.

Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best.)

GK Marc-Andre ter Stegen, 2

Ter Stegen was directly responsible for conceding two goals. The first goal was a bad pass to Busquets, and the second one was the worst mistake he has ever done in Barcelona till now.

DF Sergi Roberto, 4

This was a real test for Sergi. He was assigned to mark Theo Bongonda, the fast and explosive Celta Vigo attacker. Sergi also had problems with handling Iago Aspas, the man responsible for the efficient counter attacks.

DF Gerard Pique, 5

Even though Pique scored two goals, he still made a crucial mistake. He left Aspas enough space to take a shot with his favoured left foot and score. That was the second goal, and the only hope that Barcelona could turn the result in their favor.

DF Jeremy Mathieu, 3

Enrique made a huge mistake with benching Mascherano and picking Mathieu as a starter instead. Celta Vigo has fast and skilful forwards, and Mathieu couldn’t cope with them. He even scored an own goal, after misunderstanding Ter Stegen.

DF Jordi Alba, 4

Jordi wasn’t the worst performer of tonight, but he made a few mistakes as well. He wasn’t on time with marking Aspas on the first goal.

MF Andre Gomes, 4

Andre Gome’s contribution to the attack was poor. He was supposed to be the playmaker, but he failed the task. He was far away from how a Barcelona playmaker should dominate the pitch.

MF Sergio Busquets, 4

This is maybe the first game that we can say Busquets was the worst player on the field. He couldn’t control the pass from Ter Stegen, which lead to a fast counter attack and a goal for Celta Vigo.

Busquets was a totally different player tonight. He wasn’t in control of the game, and made a few mistakes that cost the team a win.

MF Arda Turan, 6

Arda was the only player putting pressure on Celta’s defense. He was decent at creating chances, and even supplied Suarez with a goalscoring opportunity. But Suarez took a poor shot and the keeper had no difficulties to handle the ball.

FW Luis Suarez, 3

Suarez wasn’t himself tonight. He was well marked by the Celta Vigo defenders, and had little to no impact on the game.
