Barcelona Sign Striker Paco Alcacer from Valencia

The first question every Barca fan has in mind is; do we really need another striker?

I mean Barca has Suarez, Messi and Neymar in the attack. Turan is playing way better compared to last season. Do Barca really needs one more striker? And if they do, is Paco the right fit for the team?

Paco Alcacer is 23 years old striker who just joined Barcelona from Valencia for a price of 33 million dollars.

He scored 30 goals for Valencia in 92 games. But he also scored 42 goals in 64 games for Valencia B. Which means Paco has the potential to grow into a world class striker.

Paco signed a five-year contract with Barcelona, and Munir joined Valencia on loan for the season. Enrique strategy is clear; replace Munir with a bit more experienced striker like Paco.

Paco is not going to be Enrique’s first choice for sure. But Barcelona is playing Champions League, Spanish cup and the league. Which means Paco will have his chance to prove he is worth the money.

Let’s not forget the injuries. If Messi gets injured, Enrique can relocate Iniesta in his position to supply the forwards with balls and the rest is up to their finishing skills.

We’ve all seen how Surez is capable of scoring goals from impossible positions. Neymar has his skills on his side, and with few moves he finds a scoring position.

Paco will be the man responsible for the counter attacks. Valencia is not a team that prefers to keep the ball at all cost, which means Paco was a part of a lot of counter attacks during last season.

That’s exactly what Barca needs for the upcoming season. Striker with great positioning skills to find space, and assist or score.

It’s not a surprise that Paco himself is a big admirer of the MSN trio:

‘I’m happy to be here at such a big club. I am here to provide hard work, humility and professionalism.

‘Forwards live for goals and I hope I’m lucky in that respect. I want to offer my grain of sand by doing good things at Barca.

‘Coming here is a huge thrill – I’ll find it easy to adapt because I already know some of the team.

‘[Lionel] Messi, Neymar and [Luis] Suarez are the three best players in the world. It will be a privilege to play next to them.’ – Source.

Paco wasn’t among the top five scorers in La Liga last season. But he shined at Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, scoring five goals during the qualifications.

Unfortunately, Paco was excluded from the squad for the finals in France this summer.

However, he managed to score a goal in only 16 minutes for his Spain debut. He knows that he won’t be a starter, and he will have to wait for his chance.

But Paco’s statement regarding this issue will make ever Barca fan happy:

If you don’t play for 20 days you have to be ready on the 21st. I wasn’t supposed to play for Spain against Macedonia but Diego Costa got injured. I played and I scored. It’s not easy, but my mentality is work, work, work.” – Source.
