Colin Kaepernick Still Free Agent

On a recent episode of “Dana,” Lawrence Jones filled in for Dana Loesch and spoke with NFL Sports Agent Eugene Lee. During the interview, Lee discussed the truth behind why Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent.

Jones laid out some of his issues with the former quarterback. Kaepernick had little to no interest in the black community when he was at the height of his popularity, but now that’s he’s having trouble being signed, he suddenly has a huge desire to help and speak out.

Not Only Due To Playing Ability

Agent Eugene Lee revealed:

“If you look at it from the outside looking in, I mean that’s what it appears like. I think the situation right now with Colin is that he’s without a job, and I saw an analysis saying that part of it is due to his playing ability, but if you look around the league right now, you see some of these free agent quarterbacks that are being signed with deals, there is absolutely no way that it relates solely to his playing ability.”

Lawrence Jones then asked if this treatment could be considered fair.

Eugene Lee responded to Lee’s question and reminded him that the NFL is made up of private organizations. Essentially, they are responsible to their customers, the fans, so they do not want additional backlash for signing Kaepernick.

He’s not only been an embarrassment to his country but also…

“An Embarrassment To Football”

According to the Bleacher Report:

“It’s more than a week into free agency and Colin Kaepernick is still unemployed. Remember, this is a quarterback who played in the Super Bowl only four years ago, yet now it appears he can’t get a look from teams.

“So I set out to discover, once and for all, what teams think of the 29-year-old former Niner. “He can still play at a high level,” one AFC general manager said. “The problem is three things are happening with him.

“First, some teams genuinely believe that he can’t play. They think he’s shot. I’d put that number around 20 percent.

“Second, some teams fear the backlash from fans after getting him. They think there might be protests or [President Donald] Trump will tweet about the team. I’d say that number is around 10 percent. Then there’s another 10 percent that has a mix of those feelings.

“Third, the rest genuinely hate him and can’t stand what he did [kneeling for the national anthem]. They want nothing to do with him. They won’t move on. They think showing no interest is a form of punishment. I think some teams also want to use Kaepernick as a cautionary tale to stop other players in the future from doing what he did.” When I spoke to a handful of executives at the combine a few weeks ago, one even called him “an embarrassment to football.”
